Holly Simpson is an acoustic singer-songwriter hailing from Weston-super-Mare with a lyrical focus on making relatable life stories uplifting and fun for audiences. Holly has a lively personality which she likes to apply to her upbeat performances and is excited to be releasing her debut E.P, 'Busy' in 2023!
Holly began composing her own original music at the age of 12, working in various ensembles with other musicians as well as pursuing the creation of her own material. Holly loves indie and alternative music but has been especially inspired by female singer-songwriters in the industry; Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Kate Nash and KT Tunstall to name a few!
Holly has previously studied Music Performance at Level 3, achieving a Triple Distinction. This has led to her currently studying a degree in Professional Music Performance and Production at The University of Bath Spa. Alongside this, Holly has worked in several music educational roles, including Creative Arts teaching and supporting children abroad in Ghana where she spread her love for music within a remote village community.
Holly regularly performs her original music in live venues, markets, events, weddings and festivals. Holly's most recent achievement has been performing on the main stage at Festival on The Hills in Devon, supporting Sonique and Scouting for Girls.
Holly enjoys putting a personal spin on covers of artists in the industry that inspire her, striving to ensure she uses her own style to make her covers unique. She has recently developed this with her use of live looping, ‘Live looping has brought a whole new energy to my performance. It is exciting for me because it proves that even as a solo artist I can really build up tracks and layers to keep everything upbeat and refreshing for listeners’. Holly creates a variety of catchy loops to achieve this, from backing vocals, harmonies, hooky melody lines to more percussive elements in her strumming.
